Moora After the War

Millar, as with many other ex-servicemen, would have found it difficult to settle into life after his experiences in the war.

His army demobilisation papers stated his former employment, before enlisting, was with a Mr. C. Rowan of Geraldton. He was a station manager on a salary of £250 per year + bonus.

He chose not to take up his occupation, with his former employer, and is documented as taking on various endeavours until the Soldier Settler farm he purchased became available. The Repatriation Committee in Moora stated he was unemployed from 7th January 1920 to 12th February 1920.

He was a boxing promoter at a boxing match on Moora on 13th February 1920. [100] He advertised in another newspaper in the area, as having a “roomy colonial model Ford” [101] for hire and was an agent for the South British Insurance Company. He also bought and sold chaff and oats, for farmers, at auctions in Perth. In the advertisement he referred to his former occupation as “Late Australian Field Artillery”.
